These websites belong to our network. Each has its own editorial scope; check its current information before relying on it.
Several websites may reproduce one statement. Trace facts to their origin and inspect differences in reporting before counting confirmations.
AFP’s handbook calls for at least two independent sources per fact-check, in addition to any denials.
A question to resolve: Three pages all cite one press release. How many origins have you found?
| Task | Information to retain | Starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Follow an event | Event date, publication, updates | Franceinfo |
| Compare reporting | Author, genre, cited documents, angle | RFI |
| Locate a broadcast archive | Programme, broadcast date, full sequence | INA |
| Identify a translated article | Original outlet, author and dates | Courrier international |
| Read an economic figure | Period, unit and cited producer | Les Échos |
Keep a short timeline: event, initial report, new evidence, correction. For an image or quotation, retain the full source and provenance rather than an isolated screenshot.
A photograph accompanies a claim about an event. Check its file, original context and attached text separately.
Record visible elements, possible crops and missing information. Do not infer location from resemblance alone.
Compare occurrences, dates, captions and credits. Find an earlier publication or identifiable source.
Compare recovered context with the current message. Keep references so someone else can repeat the check.
A note separating what the image shows, what its source states and what remains unestablished.
No reverse-search result does not establish that an image is new.
Only if their evidence is sufficiently independent. Three reproductions of one source do not multiply the evidence.
Cite the current version and mention a correction if it changes your argument. Avoid circulating only the old headline.
Not when they repeat one wire report or statement. Compare information origins.
These resources answer different questions. Match one to your task, then make the suggested check before relying on its result.

Franceinfo covers an evolving event; INA helps locate an older recording and its broadcast context. Record the dates of the event, the programme and the present publication.
Google News helps find different coverage. The original article belongs to its newsroom, which manages corrections and updates. Open that publication before quoting it.
The portal gives you context before the external click. Current conditions and sensitive instructions must still be confirmed with the destination publisher.
Start with the category that matches your practical need rather than the name of a platform.
